These Prayers are Synced with The Bible Companion - A System of Daily Bible Readings by Robert Roberts—for context those scriptures should be read first before reading these prayers!

Prayer August 1           2 Samuel 18 .................... Jeremiah 22 .................... Romans 9

O Lord! Merciful and righteous God! Help me to be as the man who refused to betray and disobey the king; and let me always be true to the King of kings and obey his every command.

Help me to do justice and righteousness and deliver the oppressed from the hand of the oppressor and to do no wrong or violence to the alien—the fatherless—the widow and to never shed innocent blood. I will obey your word that I might enter into your courts! I praise you, O Lord!

Lord, I know that according to the flesh the Christ is from the Israelites; and to them belong the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the worship, and the promises; but I thank you that you said those who were not my people I will call my people, and they will be called the sons of the living God. Thank you for your adoption of sons from the gentiles. Now I thank you for each blessing and each answered prayer. I ask every petition in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Prayer August  2           2 Samuel 19 .................... Jeremiah 23 .................... Romans 10-11

O Lord!  Merciful and righteous God! You have set me at your table when I deserved to die. Do not let me be the “last to bring back the king!” Let not my Lord hold me guilty or remember when your servant has done wrong; but forgive me as I forgive others.

O God, it is with sadness that we read in your word that your people would be scattered and destroyed. In my lifetime there has been great destruction of your people. I pray for the remnant that is left and ask that your favor be with them. You have said that you would again gather your children, Israel, back to the fold; now Lord as I pray for Israel today, help them to fulfill the purpose you have for them.

Your word is in my heart and in my mouth—help me to speak what you would have me speak. I have believed in you with my heart and confessed you with my mouth. Thank you for saving me. Thank you for faith that came by hearing your word. Oh the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways! I thank you for each blessing and each answered prayer. I ask every petition in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Prayer August 3           2 Samuel 20-21 .............. Jeremiah 24 .................... Romans 12

O Lord! Help me to do what is right in your sight! Set your eyes on me and bring me to the spiritual Israel. Help me to always follow the King of kings and not another. For he avenges me of all of my enemies.

Lord help me to be good fruit—to bear good fruit. That you may bring me from the kingdom of this world to your eternal kingdom. Build me up and plant me. Give me a heart to know that you are Lord! And that you will not tear me down nor pluck me up from where you have placed me. Set your eyes on me for good, I pray.

I present my body a living sacrifice to you, O Lord! Help me to never conform to his world. Transform me by renewal of my mind. May I rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, and be constant in prayer. Now help me to live peaceably with all. I thank you for every blessing and every answered prayer. I ask every petition in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Prayer August 4           2 Samuel 22 .................... Jeremiah 25 .................... Romans 13-14

O Lord! Sovereign and merciful God! You are my rock and my fortress and deliverer. I will call on you for I am saved from my enemies. In my distress I will call upon the Lord; for he will hear my voice and my cry will come to his ears. Bring me to a broad place for I will keep your ways O Lord. Help me to never depart from you. For your rules and statutes are always before me.

Help me to listen to the words of your prophets—that I will not have to drink of that cup of the wine of your wrath! Rather let me be one that submits to your voice and your commands. Your word is a lamp unto my feet, a light to my path.

Let me be subject to the authorities instituted by you. I recognize that they are your servants. I will owe no one anything except to love each other. Let me put on the armor of light—the Lord Jesus Christ. I will make no provision for the flesh to gratify its desires. For my trust is in you O Lord. Now I know that I will give an account to you. Thank you for your blessings, O Lord. I ask every petition in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Prayer August 5           2 Samuel 23 .................... Jeremiah 26 .................... Romans 15-16

O Lord! I pray that the Spirit of the Lord speaks through me—that his word is on my tongue. Thank you that you have made an everlasting covenant with your people. Give us rulers that are just, ruling in the fear of God—that are like the morning light, like sunshine on a cloudless morning, and like rain that makes grass to sprout from the earth.

Help me to speak every word you give to me and to hold back nothing. I will tell them, that if they listen to you and walk in your law that you have set before them, you will relent from the disaster you have planned for them. You will save their souls from the lake of fire.

Let me bear with the failings of the weak and not to please myself. Give me both endurance and encouragement through your Holy Word. Let me live in accord with Christ Jesus. I thank you for each blessing and each answered prayer. I ask every petition in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. To the only wise God be glory forevermore through Jesus Christ! Amen.

Prayer August 6           2 Samuel 24 .................... Jeremiah 27 .................... Mark 1

O Lord! Forgive me for every sin and take away my iniquity! Let me fall into the hand of the Lord, for his mercy is great; but let me not fall into the hand of man. May your hand be stayed from those around me that did not partake of my sin. Lord never let me offer a sacrifice to you that cost me nothing.

Help me to break the yoke of the kings and idols of this world and be yoked only to you, O Lord and not to another! Let me bear your yoke, that is easy, until it pleases you to take me to the land of my eternal home!

Help me to overcome temptation as you did—with the Word of God. Thank you that I heard the Gospel and I believed and repented. I confessed all my sins—and you forgave me. Now help me to forgive others as you forgave me! I thank you for each blessing and each answered prayer. I ask every petition in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Prayer August 7           1 Kings 1 ........................ Jeremiah 28 .................... Mark 2

O Lord! Help me to keep my vows to you and to others. Let me only speak what you give me to speak and may I never put my trust in the word of a man. May I be faithful to you, O God until the day of my death.

Help me to know truth so that I will not believe a false prophet. I will be obedient to truth. May I never rebel against you, O Lord. Help me to prosper and be fruitful in whatever place you plant me. May I be like a tree that is planted by the water. Let my roots be deep into your word. O Lord.

May I never question your power; but rather give you praise and glory for all of your works. I know that you are the Lord of the Sabbath. Help me to enter into your rest, I pray. Now forgive my every sin and heal me I pray. I thank you for each blessing and each answered prayer. I ask every petition in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Prayer August 8           1 Kings 2 ........................ Jeremiah 29 .................... Mark 3

O Lord!  Help me to keep the charge of the Lord my God—to be strong and show myself to be a man—keeping your statutes, commandments, rules and testimonies all the days of my life—that I may prosper in you and fulfill the purpose you have for me.

I pray today for the welfare of my country, my state, my county, and my city; for in their welfare I will find my own welfare. Help me to never be deceived by false prophets nor those that promise a lie. I seek you today with all of my heart. Your promise that I will find you! Keep your hedge around Jerusalem and Israel; for the world is against them.

Help me to sow seeds—to water and to work in the harvest! Now Lord I ask that you help me understand the secrets of the kingdom of God—that I see and perceive—hear and understand—turn and be forgiven. Let my lamp shine! In the days of Jeremiah the city of Jerusalem was destroyed. It is, again today, under constant threat. I pray that you will protect Jerusalem and Israel today. Keep your hedge around them as the world turns against them.

Now O Lord deliver me on that day so that I die not again—the second death.  Shorten the days that I may soon be with you! Prayer August 19           1 Kings 14 ...................... Jeremiah 40 .................... Mark 14

O Lord! Sovereign and Most Holy God! When reading your word about the kings of Israel and Judah, you said of David that he kept your commandments, followed you with all his heart and did that which was right in your eyes; but often, of many kings, the word says, they did evil in the sight of God. Let me have a testimony like David, I pray!

Just as Jeremiah was released from the chains that the Babylonians had bound him with, you have released me from the chains of sin. You gave me freedom to choose to stay in the place that you placed me or to follow servants of sin into the Babylon of sin. Thank you God that you helped me make the right decision, to choose life!

O Lord, your word—your body—is the bread of life and your blood of the covenant has been poured out for many. Thank you for redemption. Thank you for salvation. And thank you for spiritual bread. Help me to serve you with all my heart and soul and mind and body and strength. May I always obey your word O Lord. Now give me wisdom so that I can come to an understanding of your Holy Word. Prayer August 20           1 Kings 15 ...................... Jeremiah 41 .................... Mark 15

O Lord! Sovereign and Holy God! I continue to read in your word that many kings walked in all the sins that his father before him did; but I am also reminded that King David did what was right in the eyes of the Lord. Help me to do what is right in the eyes of the Lord and to put away everything that displeases you.

Though I may be accused of many things, may I be guiltless before you, O Lord. I pray that the forces of evil will not take me captive; but that I will escape by the power of your hand.

I am reminded that my Lord suffered much even before the cross. Now do not ever let my thoughts  ever stray too far from Calvary! Help me to keep my mind, my heart, and my soul pure and my thoughts on you, O Lord! I thank you for each blessing and each answered prayer. I ask every petition in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

Prayer August 21           1 Kings 16 ...................... Jeremiah 42 .................... Mark 16

I read in your word that there were many different kings in Israel while Asa was king of Judah.  You established Asa’s kingdom because he tried to do what was right in your eyes! Help me I pray to always do what is right in your eyes.

True and faithful God help me to never provoke you to anger with the work of my hands. Let my plea for mercy come before you, that you O Lord our God may show me the way I should go, and the thing that I should do. Whether it is good or bad, I will obey the voice of the Lord my God, that it may be well with me. Do not let me enter into Egypt against your will.

I thank you that when those who went to your tomb, that they were told, do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth who was crucified—he has risen; he is not here! Let me always seek the risen Jesus, my Savior. Help me to proclaim the gospel to all creation that I made please you. I thank you for each blessing and each answered prayer. I ask everything in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

Prayer August 22           1 Kings 17 ...................... Jeremiah 43 .................... 1 Corinthians 1-2

Wonderful and Mighty God of the Universe, thank you for this day! I praise you! Hallowed be your Name. Help me to speak what you would have me to speak—to do just as Elijah did—he went and did according to the word of the Lord! You care for those that obey you. You fed Elijah by ravens and with a jar of flour and a jug of oil that that did not become empty with use. Just as you did for Elijah, you not only protect me, you supply my daily needs.

Jeremiah warned your children against going into Egypt; but they did not obey your word that he spoke to them. There they incurred your judgments. Help me when I hear your word and help me obey you so that I do not enter into your judgments, instead I plea for grace—your love and mercy.

Give me wisdom that can only come from you that I may understand the secrets and hidden wisdom of God for the foolishness of God is wiser than men. Now my faith does not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God! I thank you for each blessing and each answered prayer. I ask everything in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

Prayer August 23           1 Kings 18 ...................... Jeremiah 44 .................... 1 Corinthians 3

Wonderful and Holy God thank you for this day. Elijah prayed for fire from heaven and you answered with fire. He prayed for rain. You answered with an abundance of rain. You are a God that answers the prayers of those that obey you. Help me to always obey you, O Lord. Let the Holy Spirit and Fire fall on me, O Lord!

O Lord, help me to incline my ear and listen to you. Help me to turn away from anything that displeases you. I seek your mercies. Keep me from idols of this world I pray. For nothing displeases you more than idolatry. And nothing incurs your wrath anymore than idolatry.

O LORD do not remember my sins. Do not let them come into your mind. But rather help me to build on the foundation, that is Jesus Christ. I know that each one's work will become manifest, for the Day will disclose it, it will be revealed by fire, and the fire will test what sort of work I have done. Let my work please you O LORD. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Prayer August 24           1 Kings 19 ...................... Jeremiah 45-46 ............... 1 Corinthians 4-5

Help me to learn the lesson that Elijah learned. You are not in the strong wind, the earthquake, and the fire; but you are in a low whisper—the small still voice! Incline my ear to your voice, O Lord.

I will not seek great things for myself; for I know that you are going to bring disaster upon this world. I trust in you, O LORD. Help me to fear only you—to run to you. Help me to survive your breaking down and plucking up—may I always please you. Keep me from your day of vengeance.

Lord I know that when you come you will bring to light things now hidden in darkness and will disclose the purposes of the heart. Search me today so that everything that may displease you is exposed and forgiven that others may see you in me—not through my talk but in demonstration of your power. In Jesus’ name I ask it all.  Amen.

Prayer August 25           1 Kings 20 ...................... Jeremiah 47 .................... 1 Corinthians 6

Wonderful and Mighty God! You proved to the enemies of Ahab—king of Israel that you are God of the hills and God of the plains. Thank you that you are a God that is everywhere! I thank you that you inhabit my heart. Keep me in Christ I pray.

Jeremiah says in his writings that a day is coming when every inhabitant of the land shall cry out and that fathers will not look back to their children because their hands are so feeble. Your word tells me that such will be the times of the end. My trust is in you. I will not fear what will happen in the end time or what man may do to me.

Thank you for giving your Son for my redemption. May I be joined to him and become one Spirit with him. Thank you for making my body a temple for the Holy Spirit. I are not my own but have been bought with a great price—help me to never forget that. Help me flee from every sin; for I am yours, O Lord. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen

Prayer August 26           1 Kings 21 ...................... Jeremiah 48 .................... 1 Corinthians 7

I pray today Lord that I will never sell myself to do what is evil in the sight of the Lord; but rather I will concentrate myself to your service. I pray that I will never wrong a neighbor or covet anything that belongs to my neighbor. Rather, let me love my neighbor as I love myself.

Help me to never be slack in my work for you. Help me to never be at ease but rather to be poured out for your kingdom. May I never trust in my works; but rather let my trust be in the Lord God and the treasures that you have given me;

Now help me to lead the life that you have assigned me and to which God has called me; and that I will not be anxious for anything; but rather how I may please you! Help me be a servant to my brothers and to my neighbors. Most of lead me in the works that the Father has prepared for me beforehand. Thank you for every blessing and for every answered prayer. These things I ask in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Prayer August 27           1 Kings 22 ...................... Jeremiah 49 .................... 1 Corinthians 8-9

O LORD GOD, help me to never be deceived by a lying spirit; but rather let me “… inquire, first, for the word of the Lord. Your word never fails. Thank you that we can always depend on the word of God. May I always seek council from the Wonderful counselor and from Godly men you have placed in my life!

I ask that you not bring terror upon me from those around me; but I ask that you keep a hedge around me and my family, O Lord! Help me to be a help to the fatherless and to widows. Help me to always be humble before you for there is none like you—none can summon you nor stand before you.

I love you Lord God and I pray that I am known by you! I thank you that there is one God, the Father from whom are all things and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we exist. Help me to become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some. In Jesus’ name I ask for these things. Amen.

Prayer August 28           2 Kings 1-2 ..................... Jeremiah 50 .................... 1 Corinthians 10

O LORD I ask a double portion of your Spirit on me and in me! I pray today that you will send a double portion of the Holy Ghost and fire that I might be able to stand in this end time. May I always be obedient to you and watch the work of your hand.

May I come weeping before you as I come to seek you, O Lord. May I remember your everlasting covenant with your people. May I never forget it. Our redeemer is strong, he is the Lord of hosts. You have restored Israel to their pasture—their land. Thank you Lord! Now I pray that you keep your hedge around them as they incur the despite of many in the world. I pray that I will never be proud so that I stumble and fall into your punishment; but rather that you will raise me up to the place you desire for me.

Lord, let me drink from that spiritual rock that is Jesus Christ! I know that I only stand by your grace—thank you that when I am tempted that God is faithful and will not let me tempted beyond my ability; but with the temptation he will provide a way of escape that I may be able to endure it Thank you that the cup of blessing that we bless in a participation in your precious blood and the bread that we break is a participation in your body, O Lord. Help me to not offend my brother but never let my liberty be determined by someone else’s conscience. I ask these things in the name of Jesus.  Amen.

Prayer August 29           2 Kings 3 ........................ Jeremiah 51 .................... 1 Corinthians 11

O Lord! Before I seek to start any endeavor may I first seek counsel from you! May I have right standing with you so that I may hear from you. It is a light thing for you to fill pools with water in the desert with wind or rain. I thank you that I know that nothing is impossible with you, Lord.

Lord help me to flee from the midst of spiritual Babylon that I may save my life. I do not want to be cut off from you in her punishment when you take vengeance on her. May I be at rest with you, O Lord, when the nations become mad from the wine of her fornication. When your plans for Babylon is accomplished may I be in your presence.

I acknowledge your power and pray for wisdom today so that I might come to an understanding of your mysteries. Your body, O Lord,  is the bread of life. Your body is the word! And the cup is the new covenant in your precious blood. Now let me examine myself and may I properly discern your body and your blood. In Jesus’ name I ask all of this. Amen.

Prayer August 30           2 Kings 4 ........................ Jeremiah 52 .................... 1 Corinthians 12-13

O Lord, help me today to fear you. And that you will fill this vessel full of the oil of the Holy Spirit so that I can be poured out for you! Thank you, O Lord for your provision; for you have paid my debts and given me a living.

In the times of Jeremiah, the prophet, the city of Jerusalem was destroyed and looted. Your chosen people were carried away into exile—to a land that was not the promised land. But your promise to return them to their land and to plant them has been accomplished. They will never to be uprooted again. Thank you that you always keep your word!

Thank you Lord that all are baptized into one body and were made to drink of one Spirit! Now I am a member of the body of Christ—help me to function in the body the way you have determined for me, O Lord. Now help me to have steadfast love; to be patient and kind—to never boast or be arrogant or rude. Help me to never insist on my own way and not be irritable or resentful; to never rejoice in wrongdoing but to rejoice with the truth. For I know love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Prophecies and tongues and knowledge will all pass away; but love never ends.  Let me live in the love of Christ. Thank you, O Lord, for every blessing and for every answered prayer. In Jesus’ name I ask these things. Amen.

Prayer August 31           2 Kings 5 ........................ Lamentations 1 ............... 1 Corinthians 14

O Lord I pray that I will be obedient to the man of God and not be upset because he speaks what I need to hear and not what I wish to hear. Now wash me with your Word so that I may be clean. Thank you for forgiveness of sin!

Forgive me my transgressions that they may not be bound into a yoke and set on my neck. I ask that my strength does not fail. And do not let me fall into the hands of the enemy; but rather let the Comforter—the Holy Spirit revive my spirit as I cry out to you, O Lord!

Let me pursue love and desire the spiritual gifts, especially that I may prophesy. Help me to pray with my spirit and with my mind. And to sing praise with both my spirit and my mind. Help me to be mature in my thinking and an infant in evil. In Jesus’ name I ask these things.  Amen.
