SEPTEMBER  PRAYERS

These Prayers are Synced with The Bible Companion - A System of Daily Bible Readings by Robert Roberts—for context those scriptures should be read first before reading these prayers!

Prayer September 1           2 Kings 6 ........................ Lamentations 2 ............... 1 Corinthians 15

O LORD, you know what the enemy says—even in his bedroom you hear what he has planned against me. Now help me to not be afraid, for those who are with me are more than those who are with them. Thank you for your protection, O Lord.

Lord, do not be angry with me or set me under a cloud which separates me from you. Do not forget the earth is your footstool. Do not withdraw your mighty right hand from me. I need your help to face the enemy. I pray that you do not become like my enemy. I know you will do what you have purposed, may good be purposed for me. You carry out your word.

Help me to hold fast to the Word which has been preached to me and which I hear and read so that I may be saved. I believe Jesus Christ was resurrected from the dead and that my faith is not futile. My hope is in you, O Lord. I look for the day when God will be all in all. Keep me for that day. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Prayer September 2           2 Kings 7 ........................ Lamentations 3 ............... 1 Corinthians 16

O LORD, you are our provision. You cause my enemies to provide for me. Help me to always do what is right—let me tell the king’s household of your favor toward me. You have opened the windows of heaven for me. Thank you for provision.

Lord, do not shut out my prayers when I cry out for help, I pray. Do not block my way to you; but make my paths straight. I know the steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.” The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him. It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.

Now help me to be watchful, to stand firm in the faith, to act like a man—to be strong. May everything I do be done in love. Help me to be a servant to those who serve you. Now refresh my spirit I pray. In Jesus’ name I ask all of this. Amen.

Prayer September 3           2 Kings 8 ........................ Lamentations 4 ............... 2 Corinthians 1-2

O LORD, I know those who are inclined for evil are not hidden from you. Now help me to never walk in the ways of those who are evil; but rather I will do what is right in the eyes of the Lord.

Lord, I live in a time when your ministers—your people are not honored. I need your help today. Do not scatter your people O Lord, but rather regard me with love as a child—so my watching and waiting will not be in vain.

Help me to behave as Paul did with simplicity and godly sincerity and with the grace of God. Thank you that you have established me in Christ, you have anointed me and put your seal on me. You have given me your Spirit in my heart as a guarantee. Further, give me the wisdom which only comes from you so I may fully understand your will and purpose for me. In Jesus’ name I ask all of this. Amen.

Prayer September 4           2 Kings 9 ........................ Lamentations 5 ............... 2 Corinthians 3-4

O Lord, I pray you will help me live in a way so I am never cut off from your blessings and destroyed; but rather keep your anointing on me so I may please you. Give me courage to always do your will.

O Lord, I watch and pray for peace. Do not let the joy of my heart cease; neither let my dancing turn to mourning. When there is woe to me, forgive my sins. Now if my heart has become sick, and my eyes have grown dim, then let your light shine out of darkness and let it shine in my heart.

O Lord, I pray that on the tablet of my heart you will write, by the Spirit of the Living God, a letter from you to be read by those seeking a light in darkness. Thank you that I have this treasure in jars of clay to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to me. Thank you that there is freedom where the Spirit of the Lord dwells. These things I ask in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Prayer September 5           2 Kings 10 ...................... Ezekiel 1 ......................... 2 Corinthians 5-7

O LORD, you always do what you say that you will do. You give justice to those who are evil and mercy to those who do right in the sight of the Lord. Use me I pray to destroy idols and to do whatever you ask of me to advance your kingdom. Let my zeal for you, be seen by you, O Lord.

Help me to go wherever the Spirit goes without turning aside. Help me to be careful to walk in your law and not after my own thoughts and dreams. May I always, in my heart, be prostrate before you, honoring and worshipping you.

I know that in this life I live in a tent and that heaven is my eternal home. I long for my heavenly home. Though I are burdened and groan in this body—help me to take courage for I walk by faith and not by sight. I aim to please you, for I know that I must stand before the judgment seat of Christ to receive what is due me for the deeds I have done. Keep me holy, for that day, in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Prayer September 6           2 Kings 11-12 ................. Ezekiel 2 ......................... 2 Corinthians 8-9

O LORD, help me to tear down all altars and images of idols—to worship you only—to do what is right in your eyes. Help me to guard what is right before your eyes. Keep the my heart your temple and keep it clean before you I pray.

Help me to go where you send me and speak what you would have me say—let others know that I speak your truth. I will not fear man and what he says about me; now will I be afraid of what he may do to me.

Help me to do what is honorable in the sight of God and man. Now help me to sow bountifully that I may reap bountifully. May I abound in every good work. Thank you for seeds to sow and for the bread of life. Multiply my seed for sowing and help me to reap a bountiful harvest of righteousness. Help me to be generous in every way. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Prayer September 7           2 Kings 13 ...................... Ezekiel 3 ......................... 2 Corinthians 10-11

O Lord, when kings reigned in Israel, most did evil in your sight. Very few ever changed and sought your favor. You give those who repent favor. Help me today to always seek your favor, I pray. For you listen to those who you favor.

And often the house of Israel was not willing to listen to the prophets who you sent to them. For they had a hard forehead and a stubborn heart. Forgive me Lord for every time I did not listen to your word and had a stubborn heart. Help me to receive every word you speak to me in my heart and to hear with my ears.

For I know the weapons of my warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. I can destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God with the help of my God. Do not let my thoughts be led astray from a sincere and pure devotion to you; but rather help me to take every thought captive to obey Christ. If I boast, let my boasting be in you alone, O God. For it is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends. May I be an imitator of Jesus Christ. These things I ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Prayer September 8           2 Kings 14 ...................... Ezekiel 4 ......................... 2 Corinthians 12-13

O Lord, some of the kings who reigned in Israel who did right in your eyes still did not fully commit to you by destroying all the idols in Israel. Help me to fully do what is right in your eyes. Let me be a man after your heart like David. For the rest of my life help me to live for you.

Lord you gave the prophet Ezekiel specific instructions on how to lie down and how much to eat and drink. He was obedient to your commands. Help me to listen carefully to your voice and to follow exactly what you ask of me, even if it seems extremely difficult for me.

Now Lord I ask that you help me so my boasting is in you only: for there is nothing to be gained in boasting within myself. Let me examine myself to see whether I am in the faith. Let me always test myself so that I know I am in you and you are in me. May Jesus Christ always be in me. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Prayer September 9           2 Kings 15 ...................... Ezekiel 5 ......................... Luke 1

O Lord, let it be said of me “he did what was right in the eyes of the LORD. Of all of your prophets and apostles and other men of God, king David is the only one who you proclaimed to be a man after your own heart. Help me to seek after your heart.

Lord, I know that you are a jealous God—I pray that I will not act in a way which would cause you to vent your fury on me, as you often did on Israel when they rebelled against your rules. Keep me from being a reproach to you, O Lord.

Thank you that you have visited me and redeemed me—that you raised up a horn of salvation for me. Thank you for the birth of John the Baptist, for he prepared the way for Jesus Christ. He recognized the Lamb of God and made him known to the world.  Keep me in your will. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Prayer September 10           2 Kings 16 ...................... Ezekiel 6 ......................... Luke 2

O Lord, let me do what is right in your eyes. Lord help me to know you by your presence in me and not from your fury. Keep me by your grace so that I never pay tribute to the enemy.

Lord much of your word in the Old Testament shows your displeasure with idolatry. It seems that Israel got into more trouble over idols than anything else. Today, more than in those times, the world is full of idols. Many are so subtle that they are hard to define—keep me from all idols, I pray

Thank you for the birth of your Son, Jesus. Let my eyes see your salvation that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples, a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and for glory to your people Israel.” Now keep me for the appointed day. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Prayer September 11           2 Kings 17 ...................... Ezekiel 7 ......................... Luke 3

O Lord let me do right before your eyes. Remove all the idols and high places that may be in my heart. Help me that I never bow a knee to any idol. Keep me pure so that I will be ready when—at the end time—you pour out your wrath and your anger. Never let me be exiled from your presence because of idolatry.

Lord, when the end has come and you are ready to pour out your judgments upon the earth, may I be safe in your presence awaiting your appearing with the clouds to reap the earth of all of those who are yours. Then all will know that you are Lord.

Thank you that John the Baptist prepared the way of the Lord. He baptized many in the Jordan River. He proclaimed that the one who would follow him will baptize with the Holy Spirit and fire. I have heard and accepted the good news of your gospel. Thank you that I was baptized with the Holy Spirit and fire! In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Prayer September 12           2 Kings 18 ...................... Ezekiel 8 ......................... Luke 4

O Lord, help me to do what is right in the eyes of the LORD, according to all that David had done. Help me to remove the high places and break the pillars and tear down the altars of the idols of this world. I trust in the LORD, the God of Israel.

May the glory of God be on Israel once again. May they survive all of the trouble proclaimed for them in the end of times. May they cry out to you O Lord. And may you incline your ears to them and hear their pleas.

Thank you Lord Jesus that you came to proclaim the good news, that you proclaimed liberty to the captive—to set at liberty those who are oppressed and to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor. Help me to hold fast to the LORD and not depart from following you, but kept the commandments that the LORD commands me to do. I worship you O Lord my God and may I always serve only you. I ask these things in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Prayer September 13           2 Kings 19 ...................... Ezekiel 9 ......................... Luke 5

O LORD, the God of Israel, enthroned above the cherubim, you are God, you alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; you have made heaven and earth. Incline your ear, O LORD, and hear; open your eyes, O LORD, and see; and hear my words. So now, O Lord my God, save me from the hand of the enemy. That he may know that you are God alone.

Now Lord pass through this world and put a mark on the foreheads of your children; for we sigh and groan over all the abominations that are committed in our world. Now help me to never doubt your power to forgive sins and to heal.

Teach me today, O Lord, that I may know your word. And help me follow your example of withdrawing to a private place to pray. I thank you that you have power to forgive sins. Keep me for your purpose, I pray. In Jesus’ name I ask all of this. Amen.

Prayer September 14           2 Kings 20 ...................... Ezekiel 10 ....................... Luke 6

O LORD, help me to walk before you in faithfulness and with my whole heart, and to do what is good in your sight. Help me to keep my house in order—ready to meet you at any time. Do not let me show my enemies the treasures which you have blessed me with.

Lord I cannot understand all of the things which you allowed Ezekiel to see and hear; but I do seek your presence and your glory. Now fill this temple with the brightness of the glory of God. And may your glory never leave me, I pray.

Help me to love my enemies, do good to those who hate me, bless those who curse me, pray for those who abuse me. To the one who strikes me on the cheek, help me to offer the other also, and from one who takes away my cloak help me to not withhold my tunic. Help me to give to everyone who begs from me, and from one who takes away my goods may I not demand them back. And as I wish that others would do to me, help me to do so to them. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Prayer September 15           2 Kings 21 ...................... Ezekiel 11 ....................... Luke 7

O Lord, some of the kings of Israel built altars to the host of heaven—your creations. And placed carved images in the house of the Lord where you intended to put your name forever. I ask you today to help me to worship you only—to never worship creature or creation or anything made by the hand of man. Keep your name in the temple of my heart forever.

Help me to never devise iniquity and nor give wicked counsel; but rather speak your words truly. Now Lord I thank you for today you have gathered your children—Israel out of all the countries where you scattered them and have given them the land of Israel. Thank you that your promises are always fulfilled.

Thank you that faith is found even in those whom one might not expect—one like the centurion. Lord help me to have unexpected faith. Help my faith to increase. I pray that I am building on the rock. And that when a stream of trouble breaks against it, that nothing can shake it because it has been built on you, O Lord, the rock of my salvation. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Prayer September 16           2 Kings 22-23 ................. Ezekiel 12 ....................... Luke 8

O Lord, help me to do as Josiah did; for he did what was right in the eyes of the LORD and walked in all the ways of David his father, and he did not turn aside to the right or to the left. He stood by the pillar and made a covenant before the LORD, to walk after the LORD and to keep his commandments and his testimonies and his statutes with all his heart and all his soul, to perform the words of this covenant which were written in this book. Lord, may I keep this same covenant with you.

Help me to never dwell in the midst of a rebellious house, who have eyes to see, but see not, who have ears to hear, but hear not, for they are a rebellious house. Ezekiel demonstrated being prepared for exile to them; but they still did not understand. Lord open my eyes and my ears and my understanding so that I may please you.

Thank you Lord that I received your word when it was sown in my heart. Now help me to be one of  those who, hearing the word, hold it fast in an honest and good heart, and bear fruit with patience. Help my light to shine so others may see. I know you are the one who the winds and water obey. Now I pray, when storms surround me that I will not fear, but only believe. In Jesus’ name I ask these things. Amen.

Prayer September 17           2 Kings 24-25 ................. Ezekiel 13 ....................... Luke 9

O Lord, help me that I will not give myself up to the king of Babylon; that I will guard all of the treasures of the house of the LORD. Help me to put off my prison garment and to dine every day at the King’s table. You, O Lord, supply my daily needs.

I pray I will be not be foolish and follow my own spirit; but rather I will go up into the breaches, and build up a wall for the house of Israel, that it might stand in battle in the day of the Lord.

Lord when you sent your disciples out with no staff, no bag, no bread, and no money, you still provided for them and protected them. Let me come after you, deny myself and take up my cross daily and follow you. I know whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for your sake will save it. It would profit me nothing to gain the whole world and lose or forfeit myself. May I never be ashamed of you and of your words, so that you, the Son of Man, will not be ashamed of me when you come in your glory and the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.  These things I ask in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Prayer September 18           1 Chronicles 1 ................ Ezekiel 14 ....................... Luke 10

O LORD GOD of Abraham and Issac, help me to not be a man who has taken his idols into my heart, and set the stumbling block of my iniquity before my face; but rather help me to repent and turn back to you.

O Lord, send me into your harvest I pray. Now I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to us your little children; for such was your gracious will.— I know no one knows who the Son is except the Father, or who the Father is except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him." I pray that your Son will reveal the Father to me so I may have life. These things I ask in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Prayer September 19           1 Chronicles 2 ................ Ezekiel 15 ....................... Luke 11

O Lord, I pray today that I never trouble your people; and that I do not break faith in any matter of those things devoted to you. I pray I am never destroyed because of disobedience.

Lord, within myself I am like the vine. I am good for nothing but the fire. Do not consume me or set your face against me; rather help me to act faithfully before you, for you are my God.

O Lord I praise you today—Hallowed be your Name. I pray for the day your kingdom is established on this earth. I pray you never set your face against me—that I do not displease you. Bless me today that I hear your word and keep it. Help me to never neglect justice and the love of God. Help me to enter your kingdom and to help others who are entering.  In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Prayer September 20           1 Chronicles 3 ................ Ezekiel 16 ....................... Luke 12

O Lord, many things of worth you have bestowed upon me. Now help me to use those things you have given me for your glory. Help me to remember the days of my youth and to never misuse those things you have given me.

I fear you, O Lord; for you are able to destroy body and soul. I pray I will not be anxious about my life. For you know what I have need of and you supply it. It is the Father’s good pleasure to give me his kingdom. Help me to keep ourself for you only—to seek you. Help me to lay my treasures up in heaven—where my heart is and where no man can take away or where they do not grow old and where they are affected by time. I will stay dressed for action and keep my lamp burning. I know that I must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour I do not expect. These things I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Prayer September 21           1 Chronicles 4 ................ Ezekiel 17 ....................... Luke 13-14

O LORD, today I pray as Jabez prayed— “Oh that you would bless me and enlarge my border, and that your hand might be with me, and that you would keep me from harm so that it might not bring me pain!”

Lord, with the sprig you took from the lofty cedar, plant me I pray on your mountain, that I may become a fruitful tree. So all may know that you are the Lord. Only you can make the low tree high and the dry tree flourish. Keep me alive in you, I pray.

Now help me to keep my oaths and covenants with you that I may live. I repent of all of my sins less I perish. Thank you Lord that you healed even on your Sabbath. I will strive to enter through the narrow door. Help me I pray to be able to enter. Help me to bear my own cross and come after you, Lord, that I may be your disciple. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Prayer September 22           1 Chronicles 5 ................ Ezekiel 18 ....................... Luke 15

Lord, I pray today that I never lose my birthright for any reason. Do not let me lose it to another; but rather keep me faithful to all of your statutes.

All souls are yours, O Lord. I know through your word that the soul who sins shall die. I pray you help me to be righteous and do what is just. And that I do not even lift my eyes towards an idol; but walk in your statutes and keep your rules, that I might surely live. Lord, I cry out to you today. Help me in my battle against evil, this is my urgent plea.

I trust in you!  Help me to do what is just and right—to walk in your statute and keep your rules by acting faithfully; so I may be found righteous and live. Help me to not wander but to stay safely in your fold. Thank you, O Lord, that you allowed this prodigal son to return to the Father’s House. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Prayer September 23           1 Chronicles 6 ................ Ezekiel 19 ....................... Luke 16

Lord, although I am not gifted with singing and songs, I pray that I perform the service which you have for me in the order which you assigned to me.

Lord, I pray you will plant me by the water that I may be fruitful by reason of the abundant water, your living water. May I never be plucked up in your fury. Keep me in you, O Lord. Lord, help me to minister with song in the tabernacle, that I will have a song within my heart. I pray the fire has not gone out from the stem of its shoots, nor has consumed its fruit. Help me to be a fruitful branch.

Help me to be faithful in the unrighteous wealth, so I can be entrusted with the true riches. Let me be  faithful in that which is another's, so I may be given that which is my own. Help me to love you and not money. These things I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Prayer September 24           1 Chronicles 7 ................ Ezekiel 20 ....................... Luke 17

O Lord help me to cast away the detestable things my eyes feast on, and to not defile myself with idols. Help me to walk in your statutes, and be careful to obey your rules and to never rebel against you, Lord. Do not pour out your wrath upon me.

I know temptations to sin are sure to come. Help me to pay attention to myself. And if my brother sins, help me to rebuke him, and if he repents, let me forgive him. I pray you will increase my faith. May I never forget to praise you. These things I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Prayer September 25           1 Chronicles 8 ................ Ezekiel 21 ....................... Luke 18

O Lord, I ask for your protection on the day when every heart will melt, and all hands will be feeble; every spirit will faint, and all knees will be weak as water. For that day is coming. You have declared it. You will give judgment to whom it belongs.

O Lord God help me to be obedient so that I will not be cut off from you.  May I always pray and not lose heart—your parable shows that I should be persistent in prayer—asking from our heavenly Father; for He hears me and answers me with good gifts I do not deserve. I pray you will find faith on earth when you return. Now keep me for that day. I ask these things in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Prayer September 26           1 Chronicles 9 ................ Ezekiel 22 ....................... Luke 19

O Lord, help me to assume the duty of watching—so I do not profane your holy things. Whatever duty you may assign to me, I pray I faithfully perform my assignment. And may I never profane your holy Name.

Lord may I never become guilty of shedding the blood of a man, nor become defiled by an idol which I have made. With your help I will not despise your holy things nor profane your Sabbaths. I pray you will cleanse me and rain your Spirit upon me.

Lord I thank you that salvation has come to my house. Thank you that you came to seek and save the lost. Help me to be faithful in all you entrust me with. Let me cry out my praise to you. Let me be one less stone! Now Father help me to know the time of my visitation. These things we ask in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Prayer September 27           1 Chronicles 10 .............. Ezekiel 23 ....................... Luke 20

O Lord, may I never die for my breach of faith—that I never break faith with the Lord; but rather that I keep the command of the Lord.

Lord I pray I will never forget you or cast you behind my back so I do not suffer the consequences of my sin. And may I never defile your sanctuary— my heart, nor profane your Sabbaths. Keep me from the idolatry that you so hate, O Lord.

Let me live in a way so the fruit of my labor is not taken away. Let the stone the builders rejected fall on me, and break me in pieces and then may he put me together as he wishes. May we render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God’s. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Prayer September 28           1 Chronicles 11 ............... Ezekiel 24 ....................... Luke 21

O Lord, may I give strong support to your kingdom, according to your Word. May I stand up for you in the midst of evil and with your help win a victory for you, O Lord.

Lord help me to be right before you; for I know you are the Lord, you have spoken. It will come to pass. You will not go back. You will not spare. You will not relent; but according to my ways and my deeds you will judge me.

Help me Lord that I am never led astray from you and your word. When I have opportunity to bear witness help me to settle it in my mind so I will not meditate beforehand how to answer, for I trust you to give me a mouth and wisdom, which none of my adversaries will be able to withstand or contradict. Your word is truth. When I see the signs of the end times taking place, then I know that the kingdom of God is near. Heaven and earth will pass away, but your words will not pass away. Help me to watch myself lest my heart is weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and cares of this life.  Now keep me in Christ. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Prayer September 29           1 Chronicles 12 .............. Ezekiel 25 ....................... Luke 22

O Lord, help me to come to others in friendship, to help them. May my heart be joined with their hearts. And may peace be with me, I pray.

Lord, I know you love the nation of Israel. I pray for their protection today from all who have clapped their hands, stamped their feet, and rejoiced with malice in their souls against Israel; for I know you will stretch out your hand against them. And that you will destroy them.

O Lord, you are my God—my God helps me. Help me so I will not know your vengeance. Help me to know that your body has been given for me.  And that your blood was poured out for me and is the new covenant in your blood. Now forgive me for all of my sins. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Prayer September 30           1 Chronicles 13-14 ......... Ezekiel 26 ....................... Luke 23

O Lord, let me celebrate your presence with me with all my might. Let me hear the sound of marching in the tops of the balsam trees, before I go out to battle, for I know then God has gone out before me to strike down the army of the enemy. Then you will set beauty in the land of the living.

Lord, those who are against your people, you are against. You bring destruction and vengeance on them. They are laid waste. May I always be a friend to your people and to Israel so I am never destroyed.

You were brought to Pilate as one who was misleading the people: but after examining you, behold, he did not find you guilty of any of your charges against you—nothing deserving death had been done by you.  You gave yourself into the hands of men to save me. Thank you for redemption and salvation. Keep me for that day of your return. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
